 From the Community Lay Director: 

Dear Sisters and Brothers of the Emmaus Community

 As a member of the Emmaus of Southeast Michigan community, I am reminded over and over again of the Lord’s blessings through Emmaus.

Remember taking your Walk?  It is most likely that you didn’t have complete knowledge of exactly what you were getting into.  We were all told “Don’t anticipate.”  So, you went forward in faith, to do this thing you hadn’t ever done before, trusting the Lord that you would be blessed as promised.

Our Walks as pilgrims are not the only way that Emmaus blesses those who participate.  There are many more blessings that can come to us through Emmaus.  On our Walks, we received the gifts of the Lord.  But as Paul reminds us in Acts 20:35

“…..the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

If you’ve been on an Emmaus team, you already know the unique blessings that come through being a team member.  Beyond that, there are the blessings of being a sponsor.  There are the blessings of making agape.  There are the blessings of being a part of the community at Candlelight, at Closing, and at the Fourth Day Follow-up.  There are the blessings of being part of a Reunion Group.  There are the blessings of Emmaus Gatherings.  There are blessings of being on the Emmaus board.

Why not explore an area of Emmaus that you haven’t done before?  Just because you haven’t done a particular thing before should not keep you from going forward in faith again.  Don’t anticipate  -  just trust that there are those who will go with you and help you, and that you will be blessed once again through Emmaus.
